Genetically engineered crops dominated the U.S. agriculture sector.
New numbers from USDA’s Research arm show that today, more than 90 percent of corn, cotton, and soybean acres are planted with at least one genetically engineered trait, which is up from the 50 percent seen back in 2008.
GE seeds were commercially introduced in the U.S. for major field crops back in 1996, and the two main trait types are herbicide tolerate and insect resistant.
