We are getting a closer look at how all those western wildfires are impacting livestock. The record-setting fire season has already scorched millions of acres in three states.
Farmers and ranchers are still assessing property damage, but one north central Washington group is helping them recover and talks about the immediate needs.
Valerie O’Dai, the disaster relief coordinator for Emergency Equipment Solutions, says the main needs are feed and fencing.
“The veterinary services have actually been phenomenal, there have been three or four different organizations that have stepped up to send vets in to help,” she said. “The feed, the temporary fencing, keeping them corralled and off highways, those kind of needs we’re trying to address right now.”
