High Pathogenic Avian Influenza Spreads to Iowa

High Pathogenic Avian Influenza has hit Iowa.

The state’s Department of Agriculture and USDA confirmed the case in a non-commercial, backyard flock. Iowa Secretary Mike Naig says they recognize the threat, and while a case like this is unexpected, they’re working with USDA to implement plans and protect the health of poultry flocks in the state. All bird owners are encouraged to practice good biosecurity.
