Did you know that your cabinet may contain a product that is part of a billion-dollar export industry in the United States?

The U.S. recently celebrated National Hot Sauce Day on January 22nd. It is a food category that packs a punch and is something Americans value. In 2021, the export of condiments made in the U.S. was valued at $2 billion.

Condiments, like ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, and more have grown to be more popular in the world. But when it comes to sauces, like BBQ sauce, dipping sauce, and hot sauce, exports are on fire! Over the past decade, U.S. exports of these increased more than 80 percent.

According to USDA, the top three export markets in 2021 for these sauces were Canada, Mexico, and Japan.
