Bubbins Farm, a dairy farm near the New York-Canada border, took a large hit Monday as a fire burned two livestock barns and killed an estimated 400 cows.

The barns were a total loss and the resulting damage totaled up to an estimated total of between $2 and $3 million.

It took 19 fire departments to control the fire, including three from Canada.

“We especially want to thank all the firefighters who fought the blaze, the local community who came to our assistance, and our fellow farmers who are helping us find temporary homes for our cows,” Adirondack Farms and Bubbins Farm owners’ said in a statement statement. “As caregivers of our animals this loss is devastating to all of us who dedicate our lives to our cows.”
