In typical Dolly fashion, the flowers used in her Dollywood celebration are helping spread encouragement

Dollywood recently held its opening celebration to kick off the start of the spring season.

Every year, dozens of live musicians play and half a million vibrant flowers are shown every step you take, including purple, pink, and yellow. It is a chance for pass holders to have a sneak peek of what is to come at the park.

The parade is over, but the flowers are not going to waste. For the second year in a row, the park and Mrs. Dolly donated the flowers to Random Acts of Flowers, a nonprofit organization in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The organization’s program associate says they are grateful for the donation.

“In the spirit of Dollywood and Dolly Parton and her generosity and what she gives out to the community, I think it makes perfect sense that we would end up with them. They’re beautiful, they made everyone smile on opening day and now they’re going to be able to do that again,” said Jackie Schmitt-Booth.

The leftover blooms will make bouquets that will be dispersed to hundreds of hospital and nursing home patients in the area.
