Indiana fisherman, Kyle Hammond has set a second state record for gar!
He already was in possession of the largest shortnose gar caught in the state. Now he can add a spotted gar record to the list.
Back in July, Hammond was fishing in Chain O’Lakes State Park. He reeled in the 9-pound, 11-ounce spotted gar within 20 minutes of hitting the water. He broke the 2017 record by nearly 3 pounds.
His shortnose gar record weighed in at 2 pounds, 5.6 ounces back in 2021.
Hammond has a YouTube channel where he documented the catch. You can here him say: “This is a freaking giant. That’s the biggest one I’ve ever seen, I think.”
