Inspiration at FFA

October 19, 2016

On the first day of the 89th National FFA Convention & Expo, members were challenged to better themselves and their communities. The opening session at Bankers Life Fieldhouse began with a video montage of recent crises facing our world -- from devastating flooding to the life-altering Zika virus. While the heavy subject matter could have set a tone of despair, the FFA used these elements to launch into the convention’s theme of transformation.

Each national officer gave impassioned speeches challenging FFA members to better themselves. Citing examples of other members, the officers drove home the point that small, personal changes can have an impact on communities at-large. As Secretary Nick Baker said, “because we have the ability to change, we have the responsibility to change.”
