Iowa Turkeys get Presidential Pardon

Two turkeys can breathe a little easier this Thanksgiving.

Turkeys, Corn and Cob, made the trip to Washington DC for the event, but only Corn chosen to be pardoned by President Trump at the annual Presidential Turkey Pardoning.

They were raised by Ron Kardel, Chair of the National Turkey Federation and 6th generation farmer from Walcott, Iowa. The birds will live out their lives at Iowa State University.

The Presidential Turkey Pardon tradition is a relatively recent one, the origin dating back to George H.W. Bush’s Presidency.
