RAPIDES PARISH, La. (TWILA) — Dry conditions are forcing producers in parts of Louisiana to turn to irrigation, including Rapides Parish farmer Robert Duncan.
TWILA’s Josh Meeks visited Duncan’s farm to see the challenges firsthand.
Duncan is watering recently planted wheat as drought threatens his winter forage. He says the process takes significant time to irrigate only a fraction of his field.
State Climatologist Jay Grymes also discussed what is behind the drought and when farmers could see some relief.
