For the last 16 years, Marty Stuart’s Late Night Jam unofficially kicked off CMA Fest with a cornucopia of grade A talent and 2017 was no exception.
Vocal great and Stuart’s better half, Connie Smith welcomed the fans with a stirring “Amazing Grace,” and after that Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives hit the stage for some head-bobbing, toe-tapping jamming.
There were many highlights of the four-hour show, including world-class guitarist, Tommy Emmanuel, Booker T. Jones, and Wynonna, who all came out guns a blazing.
Some special surprises came from two newcomers: Ashley McBryde, who was visibly moved as she sang about living her dreams in spite of those who said she couldn’t. Sean McConnell, another singer-songwriter, wowed the crowd with his piercing tenor voice.
Another big highlight for Marty was being presented with a special proclamation: Celebrating 25 years as a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
The Late Night Jam annually raises money for MusiCares, an organization that provides assistance for musicians during financial difficulties. This year, more than $22,000 was raised. Learn more about Marty Stuart’s Late Night Jam and donate to MusiCares.
