Megan Moroney wins first-ever Best Country award at the MTV Video Music Awards

NASHVILLE, TENN. (September 8, 2025) — Last night in New York, Sony Music Nashville/Columbia Records singer/songwriter Megan Moroney made history at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), where her PLATINUM-certified No. 1 smash “Am I Okay?” won the moon person for the first-ever Best Country category. With awards season nearly in full swing, the Country superstar also just earned top honors with SIX nominations for “The 59th Annual CMA Awards,” where she’s now in the running for SINGLE OF THE YEAR for “Am I Okay?,” SONG OF THE YEAR for “Am I Okay?,” ALBUM OF THE YEAR for Am I Okay?, FEMALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR, MUSICAL EVENT OF THE YEAR for her collaboration with Kenny Chesney “You Had To Be There,” and MUSIC VIDEO OF THE YEAR for “Am I Okay?.”

For her debut appearance at the VMAs, Moroney took to the Extended Play Stage and commanded the crowd with a knockout performance of her hit single “6 Months Later” — a bright and breezy post-breakup bop now ruling Country radio, after marking her biggest chart debut to date on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100. Watch her performance during the VMAs inaugural CBS broadcast here. Serving up one of the buzzy performances of the night, the Georgia-bred hitmaker won raves from Rolling Stone, Forbes, Pitchfork, Daily Mail, and more. Always a standout on the red carpet, Moroney also made a major splash in a Sau Lee two-piece number accompanied by Christian Louboutin heels, turning up on Best Dressed lists from the likes of Harper’s BAZAAR, GLAMOUR, Cosmopolitan, Billboard, Country Living Magazine, and more.

An increasingly towering force in Country music, Moroney triumphed as one of six artists nominated in the all-new Best Country category. The VMA win is the latest in a series of coveted accolades for “Am I Okay?,” the Billboard Hot 100-charting title track from her wildly acclaimed sophomore album (a 2024 LP that emerged as the year’s third-biggest debut from a female Country artist).
