Three more states have now followed an example set by Arkansas, requesting USDA allow them to ban sugary foods like soda and candy from SNAP.
Iowa, Nebraska, and Indiana are making the request. The Trump Administration says such waivers will be “hastily approved,” but no such actions have been taken so far.
SNAP is considered the United States’ largest food assistance program, with more than 41 million Americans receiving benefits.
