The bee population in the U.S. has been on the decline for a while. Those that work in agriculture and those that work closely with the environment know of the importance of these pollinators.

Actor Morgan Freeman knows how necessary they are!

In Freeman’s quest to help save the planet, he has turned his 124-acre, Mississippi ranch into a bee sanctuary. The property is bee heaven-- full of magnolia trees, lavender, and clover.

His actions are not only helping their numbers but also impacting the local ecosystem in a positive way.

“There is a concerted effort for bringing bees back onto the planet... We do not realize that they are the foundation, I think, of the growth of this planet, the vegetation...” Freeman stated in an interview.
