National Water Shortage: 30 million Americans face a limited surface water supply

The U.S. Geological Survey has released its National Water Availability Assessment with data backing a national water shortage.

In the last decade, the survey suggests that roughly 30 million people live in communities with limited surface water supplies.

The Geological Survey says that the new report includes first-of-its-kind insights, taking into account not only the supply of water but also demand.
The group’s Assitant Director for Water Resources says that the data collected may be helpful in informing policy to address concerns related to water resources.
