This February, in honor of Black History Month, 4-H is highlighting alumni that celebrate innovation, diversity, and leadership. This interview is a part of a series of blogs supporting 4-H’s Community Impact program emphasizing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion – an effort sponsored by Nationwide®.
4-H President and CEO, Jennifer Sirangelo, interviewed Kyle Bridgeforth—partner at the fifth-generation Bridgeforth Farms. This Alabama 4-H and Morehouse College alumnus is helping his family’s farm thrive with the skills he learned from the organization.
Bridgeforth credits 4-H with helping guide him down his career path, which has taken him from DC working with the United States Trade Representative and back to the farm. He says participating in 4-H gave him a project-based mentality and allowed him to see the bigger picture at play.
As a fifth-generation farmer, Bridgeforth is hoping his story will help inspire the next generation of Black and minority farmers by being an example of how a passion for agriculture can help you find your place in the industry.
