COLUMBUS, Ohio (RFD News) — Tar spot has been confirmed in seven Ohio counties after the disease was first detected in the state earlier this month.
The disease has been found in 49 Ohio counties since 2018 and has been reported in more than a dozen other states this year.
Despite the new cases, USDA shows 60 percent of Ohio’s corn crop in the top category. Agronomists say recent cooler weather is creating more favorable conditions for diseases like tar spot.
