NASHVILLE, TENN. – Nashville-based singer/songwriter Noelle Toland is paying homage to one of the beloved decades of country music. She recreated an iconic 90’s country song and delivers her own cover version of Trisha Yearwood’s “Walkaway Joe.”
“I’ve always been a huge 90’s country music lover,” says Noelle. “Trisha Yearwood is one of my idols. My Mom and I share a love for this song, so it is very special to me. When I was a little girl, I actually used to sing this song around the house for my Mom, often using a remote control or a hairbrush as my microphone.”
Originally released in 1992, this classic hit was written by Vince Melamed and Greg Barnhill and reached number 2 on the U.S. Billboard country charts. “This song is such a classic staple in country music. It represents country music at its finest, raising the bar for storytelling by taking us on a journey of young love and heartbreak in the span of 3 minutes. It comes from a time where women pretty much dominated country radio. I always wanted to cover this song and I’m hoping I did the song justice.”
Noelle recorded her version with producer Sean Paddock (renowned musician, producer and former drummer for Kenny Chesney), and showcases her vocals which are well-suited for this song, never exactly imitating Yearwood’s inflections, but instead adding a bit of her own style and sound to it.
Following the success of her previously released singles as well as her debut EP, The Moon Will Pass By, Noelle continues to reach into the depths of our souls in a beautiful way. She has received critically-acclaimed praise in numerous publications, participated in CMA Music Festival, been nominated for Country Evolution’s Artist to Watch, and received national and international airplay in Australia, Europe, Ireland, London, Switzerland, and the U.K.
Noelle is scheduled to release new original music throughout the year, as well as a few more 90’s country songs that everyone knows. She is also gearing up for more shows and performances.
