Philippines is making progress with African Swine Fever vaccine trials

African Swine Fever is a huge concern globally, especially for the $250 billion pork industry, but researchers in the Philippines are one step closer to releasing a vaccine to combat the deadly disease.

According to Reuters, the president of the country says local trials have shown promising results with sufficient antibodies but further testing is still needed.

African Swine Fever is a major concern in the Philippines with millions of animals culled since the first outbreak four years ago. Right now, 66 of the country’s 81 provinces have had an outbreak, with cases active in 13 of them just last month.
