Nashville, TN - September 13, 2024 - Today, Red Dirt Country Singer-Songwriter Wade Bowen debuted the official music video for his single, “Friday Night (Ft. Troy Aikman),” off his latest album Flyin (Bowen Sounds via Thirty Tigers/The Orchard) released earlier this year. “Friday Night (Ft. Troy Aikman)” is a nostalgic, feel-good track, which opens with Bowen’s friend and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman as a football announcer.
Inspired by the series “Friday Night Lights,” the music video, which plays out like a short film, follows a former high school football quarterback as he reminisces on life and love. As the video flips between sentimental scenes of football games, parties, nights at the hometown diner and falling in love with his high school sweetheart, viewers follow the main character as he takes a trip down memory lane.
At the beginning of the video, NFL legend Troy Aikman is featured as the football announcer, and toward the end, viewers can also see Wade’s former football coach, creating a nostalgic scene and taking Wade back to his own high school days.
“I’m so honored to not only know Troy, but to also call him a friend. He’s an amazing guy and shares a true passion for music, so having him on this song and in this video is a dream come true for me,” said Wade Bowen. “The song ‘Friday Night’ took me right back to playing football in high school and flooded me with so many childhood memories. It takes me back to figuring out life, love, friends, and to a hometown nostalgia that never fades. It’s been fun to relive these memories, especially as my son starts his second year playing high school football. I truly feel like the lyrics relate to so many of us and that the video will help tie the story together, making you remember why you wanna think of home.”
“Friday Night (Ft. Troy Aikman)” is the latest single off of Bowen’s 10th studio album Flyin, which was released in May of this year. The second project that Bowen produced fully himself, the 12-track genre-bending album takes listeners on a journey from old fashioned honky-tonk country to gut-wrenching ballads, classic rock and even a love song to Texas that highlights how his home state shaped who he is today. Since its release, Flyin has taken the industry by storm.
