NASHVILLE, TN (February 16, 2024) – River House Artists’ Southern Rock-inspired singer-songwriter Reid Haughton released his latest track, a rousing cover of the perennial Charlie Daniels Band favorite “Long Haired Country Boy” available everywhere today. The track, produced by Sadler Vaden (Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit, Morgan Wade), reimagines this classic country hit while staying true to its rebellious spirit. The song, about rejecting societal norms and embracing individuality, is the perfect showcase of Haughton’s musicianship and his brand of left-of-center, swampy country.
“Long Haired Country Boy has been the longest-standing cover in our live show, going back to our early days as a band in Auburn,” says Haughton. “When it came time to make my most recent project, we talked about recording a cover and this song really speaks to who we are as a band. We wanted to do it in a way that hadn’t been done before and I think that’s exactly what we got.”
Last year, Haughton released his self-titled debut EP, which included the previously released singles “Day You Don’t,” “She Is,” and “Can’t Please ‘Em All.” Haughton is a country singer-songwriter from small-town Haleyville, Alabama, just an hour from Muscle Shoals. He is steeped in the swampy musical history of the area and mixes contemporary Country melodies with modern Southern rock-inspired vocals. Haughton’s influences were shaped by his father’s vast taste in music, which included everyone from Lynyrd Skynyrd to the Grateful Dead. Using powerful vocals and inspiring guitar work, Haughton employs a sound that appeals to Southern rockers and country fans alike.
This spring, Haughton will embark on a tour with Whiskey Myers. For tickets and more information, visit reidhaughton.com and keep up with him on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
