July 15, 2024 - Lexington, VA - “This song is a simple message about staying centered and living in positivity,” says legendary flat picker Larry Keel of his latest single—and first with an all-new project dubbed Larry Keel’s Electric Larry Land“Being Kind.” Joined by Jenny Keel on bass, Larry enlisted Jared Pool (electric guitar, vocals) and Jesse Shultzaberger (drums) for an all new sound, creating what he calls a “sonic groove-and-vibe machine” in Electric Larry Land. With this unit, Keel gives rein to his innate drive to expand his songs and playing style with this high-powered, highly creative, and highly accomplished 4-piece band; dynamic acoustic rock at its finest.

Give It A Listen

Today Keel debuted the project with the release of the aforementioned “Being Kind,” a simple and uplifting number fit for pulling listeners out of low places as much as it is for reaffirming already-positive mindsets. “Being kind don’t cost a dime / Staying calm and counting my blessings,” sings Keel in the opening line of “Being Kind” in his signature gritty, suave way.

“This song is a simple message about staying centered and living in positivity. The lyrics came to me first for this one, then I worked out the music with a rhythm guitar foundation and melody line that felt upbeat and fun. After writing the song and presenting it to the band, it was really satisfying to see how each player interpreted the way the song should take shape,” says Keel. “I didn’t want to impose any particular style on the music, so I just let everyone present their part as they heard it serving the message and the energy they knew I intended.” And the content of the lyrics comes directly from Keel’s own positivity toolbox. “I have to say, I’m super pleased with the way the track came out. And I’m hoping it relays helpful suggestions for how to deal with life’s challenges. The little strategies I name in the song genuinely work for me, so I’m putting it out there in hopes it can be useful to someone else.”

Fans can stream or purchase “Being Kind” today and be sure to pay attention for upcoming news and more music from Larry Keel’s Electric Larry Land at larrykeel.com.
