Rural Health Matters: Ensuring Eye Safety on the Farm

Dr. Jeffrey Gold discusses eye protection and injury prevention in everyday agricultural activities on Rural Health Matters.

LINCOLN, Neb. (RFD-TV) — Eye safety is an important concern for farmers and rural residents, especially during tasks like welding, seasonal farm maintenance, or even routine yard work.

Dr. Jeffrey Gold, President of the University of Nebraska Lincoln, joined RFD-TV’s Rural Health Matters to discuss how to protect eyes and prevent injuries in everyday agricultural activities.

In his interview, Dr. Gold emphasized the importance of taking precautions and using proper protective equipment (PPE) to avoid accidents that can cause serious eye damage. He also outlined steps to prevent injuries and provided guidance on what to do in the event of an eye injury, including immediate response measures and when to seek professional care.

Dr. Gold encouraged viewers to remain vigilant about eye safety and highlighted the resources available through the University of Nebraska for farmers and rural residents seeking additional guidance.
