At an event Friday with the Agricultural Business Council of Kansas City, the top Republican on the Senate Ag Committee reiterated that he will not support a farm bill that does not provide for an increase in reference prices. Sen. John Boozman, R-AR, noted that rates are currently set on market conditions in 2012.

“The world is very different now than it was then. There’s no reason to tie ourselves to data that is that old for the next five years,” Sen. Boozman said.

The event was hosted by Sen. Roger Marshall, R-KS, a fellow member of the Ag Committee, as both chambers of Congress continue their listening sessions with agriculture producers.
