Washington Grown

Thursdays at 3:30 PM ET | 2:30 PM CT | 1:30 PM MT | 12:30 PM PT

In Washington, we love our food! Tucked away in the corner of the Pacific Northwest, Washington farmers grow more than 300 different crops and raise a variety of different animals. Our farmers are leaders in environmentally friendly practices, and more than 95% of our farms are owned and operated by families.

This is why Washington is also home to one of the greatest culinary experiences in America. Together, our farmers and chefs are bringing the best food experiences to customers daily. Now audiences don’t have to wait until their next night out on the town to enjoy the culinary experience of Washington. The popular, Emmy® winning television show Washington Grown brings the dynamic farm-to-table experience to life every week! Washington Grown takes viewers on a ride through the vineyards of Columbia country, orchards of the Wenatchee Valley, and every “back 40” in between.

Inside the Kitchen
At the end of the day, it’s all about the food! Washington Grown takes viewers behind the scenes of some of the premier restaurants in the state. In five seasons, we have showcased the likes of Mamnoon, Seattle’s Carlisle Room, Metropolitan Grill, Staple & Fancy, Canlis, and Art of the Table. We have also gotten behind the scene
peeks at some of Washington’s hometown favorites like Spokane’s Dick’s Hamburgers, Blackbird and Poole’s.

But restaurants and pubs aren’t the only foodie favorites in Washington. Our state is also home to some amazing food processors and specialists. We have shared behind the scene looks at companies such as Tim’s Cascade Chips, the Elysian Brewery, ADM Milling, Lamb Weston, Cyrus O’Leary’s Pies, Darigold and Dry Fly Distillery.

Out in the Field
Great food comes from great farms! Washington Grown shows audiences what life is like on family-owned and operated farms throughout the state. In five seasons, we have traveled throughout the state in search of the story behind the food. We have visited farms and ranches from every corner of the state. Washington is home to 300 crops, second only to California in diversity. Every county in the state has farms and agriculture within its borders. Even King County, home of Seattle, hosts more than 1,800 farms according to the 2012 Ag Census.

Washington is known for its technology and evergreen practices, and Washington farmers are ahead of the curve when it comes to advancements on the land. From water conservation to humane practices, many of our farmers and ranchers work tirelessly to exceed public expectations for quality assurance and best management practices. We discuss some of these challenges and how farmers are facing them. We also share the heritage behind every family farm. Farms in Washington are generally passed down from one generation to another, making for deep traditions and cultures. Washington Grown has featured both big and small farms, urban and rural, organic and conventional. No farm is the same and each has an important story to share.
