Actor Robert Conrad Dies at 84

Star of Wild Wild West, Robert Conrad has died at 84.

Growing up in Chicago, Illinois, Conrad earned his spurs in Hawaiian Eye, booking his first substantial recurring role in 1959 after moving to Los Angeles the year prior.

Conrad went on to star as Agent James T. West in The Wild Wild West (1965-1969), which wove the fictional tale of the country’s first Secret Service agents who were tasked with investigating crimes in the West and protecting the President during the Ulysses S. Grant administration.

From there earning roles in various others television series and films, including The Lady in Red and Samurai Cowboy, he actor also starred in the Wild Wild West the movie and its spin-off, More Wild Wild West. His last film appearance was in 2002’s Dead Above Ground.

Conrad was a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award in Broadcasting and an inductee of the Stuntman’s Hall of Fame. He was a a longtime supporter the Wounded Warriors Project, Paralyzed Veterans of America, and the United States Marine Corps

Conrad is survived by 18 grandchildren and eight children.

“He lived a wonderfully long life and while the family is saddened by his passing, he will live forever in their hearts,” family spokesman Jeff Ballard told PEOPLE.
