Some lawmakers support a deal, but others say that it would complicate the Phase One agreement with China.
American Farm Bureau’s Dale Moore wants a balanced approach without “political whims”. “We want the United States doing everything it can to get both, mainland China and Taiwan, as solid, stable markets,” Moore notes. “We’ll certainly pass that along to the folks on Capitol Hill, to folks in the executive branch as well.”
The State Department says that Taiwan is one of America’s top ten buyers of soybeans, corn, wheat, and poultry.
