The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture has launched an effort to end hunger in the U.S.
NASDA President Ryan Quarles says that the level of need caused by the pandemic influenced policy change and says that the state ag departments are already playing an important role in reducing hunger.
According to Quarles, “There’s a lot of opportunities for producers across America to address food security and, in many ways, we’re already doing it. We have programs out there where food coming from American farmers is being purchased or donated directly to food pantries.”
He says that ag organizations are literally charged with the task of feeding America.
