A refreshed bill in Congress is getting mixed reactions from the agriculture community.
Senator Cory Booker and Congressman Ro Khanna reintroduced the “Farm System Reform Act.” It would phase out concentrated animal feeding operations, or CAFOs, and order those currently operating to stop by 2040.
They would get help from the government to pay off their debts.
The bill would also restore mandatory country of origin labeling, or M-COOL, barring imported beef from carrying the “Product of the USA” label. Also, it would amend the Packers and Stockyards Act to empower family farmers and ranchers
