Study shows that drivers who use the most gas aren’t buying EVs

The drivers who use the most gas, the ones in rural and suburban areas, are not interested in electric vehicles.

They are driving pickups and SUVs. That is according to a new analysis by a Washington think tank.

The study shows that EV sales growth is very uneven, with 12 percent of drivers in California. That is followed by Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, and DC, but uptake is much slower in other states, including the entire middle section of the country.

The White House hopes to increase EV sales to 50 percent by 2030.
