CRAWFORD, Texas (RFD News) — While fewer Texas producers grow oats today, the Weithorn family is working to preserve both the crop and a farming tradition that spans generations.
Fourth-generation farmer Jason Weithorn grows seed oats with his father, Mark, for a company that supplies ranchers with forage. He said the crop demands patience throughout the growing season, but continuing the family’s operation makes the work worthwhile.
That commitment to the next generation remains at the heart of the family’s operation as they look to keep the farm going for years to come.
