The grind never stops for Stiles Patin and his RodeoHouston Grand Champion Junior Market Steer, King

RodeoHouston wrapped up this weekend, and one of the most anticipated events is the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ Junior Market Steer Auction.

King, a pure white Charloais cross steer was named the champion, exhibited by 17-year-old Stiles Patin. Patin has been showing cattle since he was nine years old. His mother, Tammy, said it has taken a lot of mornings, weekends, and nights to get the win.

Patin was overwhelmed by the win and said not just anyone can do it.

“It’s a grind that never quits. It’s a passion. You got to have a passion for the game. You gotta love it.”

King sold for $550,000. Last year’s winning steer broke RodeoHouston records by selling for $1,000,000.
