The quarterly hogs report has some livestock analysts confused.
The USDA report showed little to no changes in market and breeding inventories, and that data does not sit right with some analysts who say a liquidation should be underway.
Jim Long with Genesus Genetics says he is confused by the rise in the breeding herd from last quarter especially when producers were losing around $40 per head. He says no matter what USDA’s report shows, he believes the sow herd is liquidating.
