There will be no poultry at Alaska’s state fair this year

The Alaska State Fair will be without poultry this year due to HPAI.

The fair will still have baby chicks, as HPAI does not affect chicks in the egg, but no turkey, chickens, geese, or ducks. Officials say that it was a difficult decision but they have chosen to err on the side of caution to keep Alaska’s livestock healthy.

Photos and descriptions of the birds will still be available for interested buyers.
