WATKINSVILLE, Ga. (Farm Monitor) — One of the nation’s leading honeybee experts is returning to Georgia after nearly two decades at the University of Florida.
UGA graduate Dr. Jamie Ellis will take over the honeybee program that helped launch his career. He succeeds Dr. Keith Delaplane, who is stepping away after 34 years leading the program.
Ellis studied under Delaplane as an undergraduate and credits him with much of what he learned about honeybee research.
Ellis later developed the honeybee program at the University of Florida. Now returning to UGA, he says his longtime interest in beekeeping remains at the center of his work.
