USDA and FDA are urged to crack down on food labeling

The House Ag Committee wants the USDA and FDA to tackle food labeling issues.

The FDA is being asked to enforce the rules around labeling of plant-based alternatives and to do a study on consumer attitudes around those products.

They are also asked with requiring restaurants to disclose nutritional information on third-party, online platforms where menus are listed.

The Committee is also asking USDA to reform its approval process for labeled sustainability claims on meat and poultry products.
