USDA’s Ag Marketing Service is preparing for a series of listening sessions to get producer feedback on the Cattle Contracts Library Pilot Program.
The program was rolled out earlier this year and AMS leaders say it’s all about transparency.
“We are posting things about negotiated contracts with respect to base price premiums and discounts, so that there’s increased visibility and transparency in the marketplace to producers about how cattle are transacting and how prices end up in the marketplace,” Melissa Bailey with AMS said.
Bailey said feedback has been positive so far, but they want in-person listening sessions so they can make any needed adjustments to the program.
The first listening session will be on May 18th in the meats lab classroom at the USDA Cattle & Carcass Training Center located at West Texas A&M University, Canyon, TX, 2513-2579 4th Ave, Canyon, TX, 79016, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. CST.
In-person seating is limited to 80 people. If you’d like to attend virtually, you can join the meeting via Zoom here.
