Veterans Day 2023: Project Victory Gardens connecting U.S. veterans with agri-therapy and ag education

In honor of Veterans Day this weekend, we wanted to take a moment to highlight an incredible program connecting our great nation’s heroes with agriculture!

Kara Rutter, president of Project Victory Gardens, joined us Wednesday on Market Day Report, along with her husband, Matt Rutter, who serves as the Executive Director of Palmetto Veterans in Agribusiness and is the President of the Farmer Veteran Coalition of South Carolina.

In their conversation with RFD-TV’s own Suzanne Alexander, the Rutters explained how their 45 years of combined service in the U.S. Military served as the inspiration for their non-profit; the many programs and services they offer to veterans, like agri-therapy and resiliency training; how they plan to expand their services with funds from a USDA’s NIFA Ag Vets Program and continued support from donations; and the impact they hope to have on the lives of the veterans they serve.
