Nashville, TN - June 11, 2025 - Red Dirt Country Singer-Songwriter Wade Bowen has released a brand-new acoustic version of his heartfelt track “Hidin Behind This Microphone,” featuring multi-platinum selling artist Cody Johnson. The stripped-down rendition is available now, alongside an official video capturing the emotional depth of their collaboration.

Give It A Listen

Originally appearing as the closing track of Bowen’s 2024 album Flyin, “Hidin Behind This Microphone” quickly became a fan favorite for its candid reflection on the emotional weight of life on the road and the vulnerability artists often mask behind their music. Today’s acoustic release strips the track down to its emotional core, with Bowen and Johnson delivering a raw, honest performance that feels as intimate as a late-night backstage conversation.

“I’ve loved this song so much from the moment we wrote it, and it took us a long time to finish it, which just happens sometimes,” Bowen said. “It was already one of my favorite songs on the album when I started getting texts from Cody about how much he loved the song and related to it some nights. Obviously coming from a guy like him that means the world. He’s one of my favorite voices and has always been a good friend to me. I’m so glad we finally got to do something together.”

The song finds both artists wearing their hearts on their sleeves, a sentiment brought to life in the accompanying video, which features Bowen’s live performance footage alongside intimate clips of both singers in the studio. The video feels deeply personal—like watching home movies—offering a glimpse into the emotion and vulnerability that fuels the track.
