What should farmers watch for in 2024?

With 2023 nearly in the books, ag economists are looking ahead to next year and bracing for several issues that could have an impact on global agriculture.

A survey by the University of Missouri and Farm Journal shows they are focused on several items that could impact the economy, like corn prices and yields, inflation, beef imports, and geopolitical events like the war in Ukraine.

However, they also feel economists are slightly more optimistic than in previous months including opportunities for domestic soybean crushing, renewable fuel, and sustainable jet fuel, competitive pricing for U.S. commodities in global markets, and improved farm conditions with strong balance sheets.
