Wildfires are already a concern for producers, especially in southern plains

We have not entered summer yet, but wildfires are already a concern for producers. Nearly 15,000 fires are burning this week, scorching half a million acres.

The National Interagency Fire Center says that is the most recorded this time of year in a decade. They are popping up in Colorado all the way to Texas, the majority of which is in drought.

Earlier this month, government forecasters said that the western drought would move east this spring.
