It has been a wild year for farmers and ranchers.
Senator John Hoeven of North Dakota, Chairman of the Ag Appropriations Committee, says that Congress kept that in mind for the 2021 Ag Appropriations Bill. He says that it fully funds farm loan programs, supports rural innovation, and bolsters ag research.
Some key aid to farmers:
The bill maintains support for crop insurance and other Farm Bill programs
It increases funding for farm direct, guaranteed, and emergency loans
It contains $10 million dollars for mental health support for farmers and ranchers
- It adds $400 million dollars to the Reconnect Broadband Pilot, which brings internet to rural areas.
