Special Rangers with the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association have uncovered a South Texas livestock stealing scheme that has resulted in the theft of 251 head of cattle.
The association was contacted in March by the Live Oak Livestock Action, which claimed to have sold 35 head of cattle but never received payment.
A man named Mason Solis gave the auction a bad check, and despite the failed payment, he ultimately took the cattle.
Widespread investigations followed, showing similar incidents taking place at auction barns across South Texas. This resulted in the arrest of the Wilson County man. Solis was ultimately charged with nine counts of felony theft, amounting to more than $275,000.
