RFD-TV’s Janet Adkison speaks with FCC Chairman Ajit Pai on how the commission is seeking to connect rural America with proper internet access.
Chairman Pai says that he hopes to be able to begin this process by going forward with their 5G Fund. The fund will distribute $9 billion dollars across the country to enhance connectivity, with $1 billion dollars allocated for precision agriculture. Pai states, “5G is going to be a game changer, not just for transportation, healthcare and the like, but also for agriculture.” He ends by saying that he wants rural America connected and the sooner this starts, the better.
Pai also mentioned that this pandemic has only highlighted the need for connection in rural communities. On April 23rd, the FCC will vote whether or not they will proceed with the fund.
