In a year of not much good news, it turns out that 2020 was a good year for chiles in New Mexico.
USDA says the value of the red and green varieties $52 million – that comes out to an 8% increase from the previous year, in terms of volume.
The head of the New Mexico Ag Department attributes the gain to farmers, who weathered labor shortages and reduced demand, as restaurants and other venues were forced to close.
