A look at the Cowboy Channel’s Rose Parade float

It takes a lot of work to build a Rose Parade float, and that is no different for us at Rural Media.

The theme for this year’s float is called “Walk.Ride.Rodeo” and Amberley Snyder served as its inspiration.

The float towers 24-feet high, 18-feet wide and 75-feet long. That is taller than the average giraffe and about the same length as the average blue whale.

In total, there were more than 45,000 flowers.

Amberley Snyder

Her hat is made of black seaweed, her face is of various spices, her hair is made of crème excelsior, her shirt is made of blue and light blue fuzzy cut statice, her buttons are made of soy beans, her gloves are made of white powdered rice and light grey ground white pepper, her belt is made of white fine ground rice and blue fine cut statice, her buckle is made of gold flax seed, her seat belt of red fuzzy cut strawflower and black ground onion seed, and finally her straps across her legs are made of tan paper bark.

Amberley’s Horse

The horse’s eyes are made of black seaweed and white powdered rice, its mane and tail are made of black buffalo grass, its body is made of black onion powder. The saddle is made of tan paper bark, the details of the horse are made up of black beans, crème soy beans and white navy beans.

The blanket under saddle is made of black seaweed, a border of black beans, and a background of white fine ground rice. The stars are made of blue fuzzy cut statice, red fuzzy cut strawflower and red small kidney beans, the reins are made of natural bac-bac, all rings are black onion powder an all tack is brown coffee, shiny grey silverleaf, bronze fuzzy cut strawflower, paper bark. All Buckles are of shiny grey silverleaf, the front bridle is made stars of red kidney beans, white navy beans, blue fine cut statice, orange whole lentils.

And finally, the background is of brown coffee and stirrups of shiny grey silverleaf.

USA Flag

The stars are made of white navy beans, all blue-blue fuzzy cut statice-stripes of red and white whole carnations. The inset areas are made of white fine ground rice and red fuzzy cut strawflower, the top and bottom edges are made red fuzzy cut strawflower and the flagpole of gold clover seed.

Bull Rider

His hat is made of brown coffee, his faces is made of various spices, his beard of curly seaweed, his gloves of white powdered rice and light grey light lettuce seed, his shirt of white fine ground, light grey light lettuce seed and dark grey dark lettuce seed, his vest of black seaweed and light grey light lettuce seed, his chaps of paper bark and backs of tan fine walnut shell.

The details are of dark green ground parsley flakes and green whole split pea, his pants of blue fine cut statice, his boots of brown palm bark, his soles of brown coffee and spurs of shiny grey silverleaf.

Bull

His eyes are made of black seaweed, dark grey poppy seed and white powdered rice. His horns are made of tan fine walnut shell and crème sesame seed, his head and body of white powdered rice, light grey ground white pepper, dark grey poppy seed, brown coffee, tan fine walnut shell, his hooves of brown coffee and tan fine walnut shell. Finally, his tail is made of tan uva grass.

Cowgirl

Her hat is made of black seaweed, face of spices, hair of black buffalo grass, shirt of hot pink fuzzy cut statice, details of crème soybeans, her pants are made of blue fuzzy cut statice, and her boots are made of black seaweed and black onion powder.

Horse

The horse’s eyes are made of black seaweed and white powdered rice, mane and tail are made of black buffalo grass. The horse’s body is made of brown coffee and black onion powder and dark grey onion powder. The saddle is of bronze fuzzy cut strawflower and black beans. The black straps of black beans, red and brown straps of pinto beans, the and loops and buckles are made of shiny grey silverleaf, and the blanket is of white fine ground rice.

Madison Square Garden (home of 2020 Rodeo New York)

White fine cut strawflower, light grey light lettuce seed and dark grey dark lettuce seed. The outside walls are of red large kidney beans, blue fuzzy cut statice, white mum and dark grey poppy seed. The light grey faces are made of shiny grey silverleaf and the light grey tops and sides are made of light grey light lettuce seed and black onion seed. Windows are of white navy beans.

Chrysler Building

Dark grey dark lettuce seed, light grey light lettuce seed, gold flax seed, black onion seed, light blue fine cut statice, green fine ground split pea, orange fine ground lentil, white fine ground rice, yellow fine cut strawflower.

Empire State Building

Dark blue fine cut statice, light blue fine cut statice and white fine ground rice.

Statue of Liberty

Face, neck, arms, curls and feet are made green fine ground split pea. Gown, hair and spikes are made silver dollar eucalyptus. The shading areas are made of dark grey dark lettuce seed. The tablet is made faces of grey/green eucalyptus and edges of light grey light lettuce seed. The crown and the spikes are made of shiny grey silverleaf, the torch isyellow fuzzy cut strawflower-Inside-light grey light lettuce seed and the outside isshiny grey silverleaf.

The base is made of light grey light lettuce seed, green and grey eucalyptus, black onion seed, brown coffee and tan fine walnut shell. The rear stars are made from tops of white button mums and bases of yellow, light orange, bronze and red fuzzy cut strawflower.

Rodeo New York Sign

The horse is made brown coffee and black onion powder, the lettering of “Rodeo New York” is yellow whole split pea, orange whole lentils, black onion powder. The background is brown coffee and the border trim is made red large kidney beans and black beans. The sides of white mums and backs are made of black onion seed.

The barrel is made of the tops of Christmas red mums, the floral is made of green leather fern, white dendrobs, magdalena ting-ting with powdered rice, white cymbidiums, hot pink and pink roses and green deflexis. The barrel sides are made of Christmas red and white mums and blue fuzzy cut statice.

ProRodeo Sign

White navy beans, white large lima beans, blue fine cut statice, red large kidney beans, tan pinto beans, white mums and black onion seed.

Cowboy Channel Sign

Black ground onion seed, white powdered rice, light grey ground white pepper, dark grey poppy seed, black onion powder, white mums, tan paper bark, edges of crème sesame seed, lettering of dark brown whole coffee beans.

Giant Sunflowers

The petals are fronts of yellow button mums, backs of yellow fuzzy cut strawflower, centers of dark beau mums, calyx and stems of green ground parsley flakes.

The deck is of green springeri, white roses, pink, dark pink, hot pink roses, lavender, light lavender, dark lavender roses, light blue and dark blue iris, light pink roses and pink carnations, red roses, hot pink with green center gerberas, light orange gerberas and orange roses.

Floral Arrangements

White china mums, powdered rice, white roses, iris, white gerberas, green leather fern, white gladiolas, white button mums and short curly willow with powdered rice.
