President Trump took the next step in his plan to plant a trillion trees.
He signed an executive order that creates an inter-agency council. It is part of the World Economic Forum’s initiative to grow and conserve one trillion trees worldwide by 2030.
The President says that the council will keep forests and rangelands healthy and reduce wildfire risk.
The co-chairs are the Secretary of the Interior and Secretary of Agriculture.
In response to the announcement, Secretary Perdue stated, “This further demonstrates the administration’s commitment and leadership in ensuring our national forests are healthy and productive so they can continue to meet the needs of citizens and communities, both now and into the future.”
