We are waiting to see what will happen to the latest round of COVID relief after President Trump said he will not sign the current bill. The farm sector is now left wondering what will come of the $13 billion dollars in funding set aside for agriculture.
John Newton, American Farm Bureau Chief Economist, speaks with RFD-TV’s own John Jenkinson on what this means for ag, some of the ag highlights, how it would help the dairy industry, and if ag provisions will stay in the bill if it is redrafted.
According to Newton, “All four corners of the Ag Committee came together in negotiating the ag package, both from the farm side and the nutrition side. The President, at this point, hasn’t signaled any displeasure with the ag provisions... This is a game being played above our heads right now. We just have to wait and see and hope that leadership at the White House and Capitol Hill come to an agreement. I ultimately think that we will get an agreement and I think all the ag provisions will be in there.”
