The county committee structure will remain part of the Farm Service Agency.
It comes after USDA’s Equity Commission recommended eliminating the county committee system not long ago, saying a more “fair” alternative should be developed for all farmers.
The county committees are designed to give local input on a variety of issues, and members are elected by farmers.
Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says he just wants the system to work fairly and justly.
