Agriculture Continues to Fight For USMCA


The push to ratify the U.S Mexico Canada Trade Agreement continues with Iowa ag leaders drumming up support in their home state. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley and Former Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack toured an Iowa dairy process facility together. Grassley says USMCA will create tens of thousands of jobs and Vilsack says its passage is necessary to modernize North American trade

According to a recent international trade commission report, The USMCA could mean up to $314 million dollars in additional dairy sales.

The produce industry is lending its weight to the deal. Robert Gunther with United Fresh says no trade deal is perfect and there are positives and negatives, but when it comes to the USMCA, it’s a win for his sector and a much-needed upgrade for the North American Free Trade Agreement.
